Outdoor Arena Footing

We offer several grading options and work with high efficiency. Olympia Footing owns most of our equipment and we are prepared to build your sub-grades along with an Outdoor base system. In short, we can go from field to finished riding surface.

Olympia Footing offers many options including control fabric for those clay soil situations. We offer many types of outdoor systems and we are authorized installers of the Otto Mat Sport System, including outdoor/indoor underground water and drainage system.

Our typical base system for the outdoor arena will generally end up with an 8” base rock and 4 inches of our equestrian base mix, giving you a total of 12 inches of base. Our equestrian base is designed to absorb shock. We believe there is a bottom side to your footing. This will allow the shock waves to go beyond the footing, allowing the footing to work when it is required to. Our footing will offer support and rebound along with shear.

If you think about taking a hammer and hitting a concrete slab, it will always bounce back. When you hit our equestrian base layer, the hammer will stay and absorb the energy into the base. The equestrian base serves three purposes. It will absorb shock, protect from water penetrating the deep base and protect from bottoming out to the base rock layer.

We offer site management and look beyond the scope of the arena. If necessary, we will add drainage points with piping to control water from crossing through the arena from higher elevations. All of our base work in footing is installed using laser-guided machinery, allowing for a precise amount of product, guaranteeing each layer of base is consistently draining the same way.

We all know that we like the depth of our footing exact at all times!
