Our indoor and covered arenas are installed with the highest integrity and we have many base options to help out with budgeting constraints. We have been a part of many footing designs with Premier Equestrian. Olympia Footing offers several types of textile/additives for our indoor arenas. Textiles and additives are one and the same. When you hear people refer to additives, most commonly, that is a fiber and felt combination known as a Geo Textile. The difference between a bad footing and a good footing can be can be as simple as the textile used and its appropriateness for the style of riding.
The fiber count of the felt is very important. This allows us to stiffen the sand or offer a soft landing with a stiffer bottom-end impact. The biomechanics of a horse with the footing and watching it in motion sometimes people like to ride on a very hard complex footing. You commonly see this in the Jumper world. When you take a minute and study the biomechanics of the way the animal lands, one understands that there needs to be a little bit of a cushion and rebound. At Olympia footing, we have footing blends to accommodate all types of riding.
We offer a few different types of our custom mix sand blends. Our indoor mix will likely be a very fine silica with a small percentage of Silt or Clay content. This will allow you to hold moisture longer, which will give you the ease of not watering as often throughout the day. We work with many sand suppliers across the state of California and we also work out of state.
